Happy Halloween

Fashion Friday

This weekend between dressing up, partying and recovery, why not watch a scary movie and get inspired?  Here are a list of my personal favorites, in no particular order, of movies that have great style and are spooky too!

Rear Window
"A wheelchair bound photographer spies on his neighbours from his apartment window and becomes convinced one of them has committed murder."

A classic Hitchcock film starring James Stewart and Grace Kelly, what could be better? Swoon over Kelly’s full skirts, belted waists and classic jewelry.

Drag Me to Hell
"A loan officer who evicts an old woman from her home finds herself the recipient of a supernatural curse. Desperate, she turns to a seer to try and save her soul, while evil forces work to push her to a breaking point."

Keep your eye on Alison Lohman’s cute office attire.

The Others

"A woman who lives in a darkened old house with her two photosensitive children becomes convinced that her family home is haunted."

Nicole Kidman shows off some great tailored suits in this film.

Rosemary’s Baby
"A young couple move into a new apartment, only to be surrounded by peculiar neighbors and occurrences. When the wife becomes mysteriously pregnant, paranoia over the safety of her unborn child begins controlling her life."

This movie is so terrifying, but try and focus on Mia Farrow’s wardrobe of cute shift dresses, flats and a pixie hair cut.

Have a Happy Halloween!!

Playing with Tights

Coloured tights can be a great way to add some spunk to an outfit (and keep your gorgeous gams warm).  But pairing the right colour with an ensemble can be a intimidating process.
Here’s my mini guide to pairing tights with an outfit!

There are four ways to pair tights with an outfit: Monochromatic, Complimentary, Contrast, and Highlight. Below you’ll find an explanation of each look, examples and where to find a great pair of tights!

1.       Monochromatic
The Look: wearing a single hue, said to be sliming and office appropriate. Black is the easiest colour to pull this look off with. But grey, white and brown can also work.  Or try wearing multiple tints of the same colour (light blue, with a darker and medium tone blue).

2.    Complementary
The Look: Paring colours together that flatter each other. Look to the colour wheel for inspiration, these colours are typically adjacent to each other. For Example blues and greens or brown and magenta.

3.       Contrast
The Look: Playful, risky, fun. These colours enhance and intensify each other. Think Blue with grey or black and fuchsia.

4.       Highlight
The Look: Taking a understated aspect of your outfit and emphasizing it.  Like a flower print on a dress that is yellow, and wearing a yellow tight.

If you are looking for inspiration check out the Uniform Project. The project was started by a young woman who challenged herself to wear the same dress everyday for a whole year –but had to make the dress look unique every single day.  The website is pretty inspirational and will make you appreciate what you already have. Check out the blog for ideas on how to accessorize an old look and make it completely new again!
