Playing with Tights

Coloured tights can be a great way to add some spunk to an outfit (and keep your gorgeous gams warm).  But pairing the right colour with an ensemble can be a intimidating process.
Here’s my mini guide to pairing tights with an outfit!

There are four ways to pair tights with an outfit: Monochromatic, Complimentary, Contrast, and Highlight. Below you’ll find an explanation of each look, examples and where to find a great pair of tights!

1.       Monochromatic
The Look: wearing a single hue, said to be sliming and office appropriate. Black is the easiest colour to pull this look off with. But grey, white and brown can also work.  Or try wearing multiple tints of the same colour (light blue, with a darker and medium tone blue).

2.    Complementary
The Look: Paring colours together that flatter each other. Look to the colour wheel for inspiration, these colours are typically adjacent to each other. For Example blues and greens or brown and magenta.

3.       Contrast
The Look: Playful, risky, fun. These colours enhance and intensify each other. Think Blue with grey or black and fuchsia.

4.       Highlight
The Look: Taking a understated aspect of your outfit and emphasizing it.  Like a flower print on a dress that is yellow, and wearing a yellow tight.
